Luxottica sales up for 1st quarter; more evidence the economy is improving

Luxottica Group  announced that the company has experienced a “strong rebound” in the first three months of 2010.  In particular, Ray-Ban and Oakley are up in double digits, while premium and luxury sales are recovering.  Luxottica reports seeing excellent performance on their Rx frames and LensCrafters comparable store figures.  The company says it is optimistic but cautious for the remainder of the year.

The company reports that net income for the first quarter rose by 21 percent for the same period 2009 and that net sales increased by 6 percent for Q1 2009.
